How to Make a Heart Pinwheel Craft
Pinwheels are simple crafts that relatively anyone can create with a few sheets of square paper. Incorporating the idea of "hearts" with pinwheels transforms a simple pinwheel into a more appropriate gift for a loved one. There are a few different approaches to using hearts with pinwheels, including using a heart as a base or a backing board for pinwheels. Children can easily complete each approach with little to no parental assistance, depending on the age of the child.

Functional Method
-
1
Draw dotted diagonal lines that form an X across one side of the paper. Connect the dots so that a small solid X appears at the center of the paper. Between 1 and 2 inches of each line should still be dotted from the tip of the solid X to the corner of the paper.
-
2
Cut along the dotted lines toward the ends of the solid X.
-
-
3
Fold each corner toward the center. Make sure that all corners overlap when folded toward the center of the paper. Push a thumbtack through the center of the paper to secure the corners and serve as pivot point for the pinwheel.
-
4
Push the sharp end of the thumbtack through a clean Popsicle stick or a pencil eraser. The stick or pencil will serve as a pole for the pinwheel.
-
5
Cut a heart shape from a piece of craft foam to serve as a base for the Popsicle stick or pencil. Press the Popsicle stick or pencil firmly into the heart-shaped base.
