How to Fold the Paperang Moth Step by Step

How to Fold the Paperang Moth Step by Step thumbnail
The Paperang Moth is more complex to fold than the average paper airplane.

Paper airplanes are simple to fold planes that fly through the air. The Paperang Moth is a type of plane designed by the Paperang Company, with instructions available to download. Folding a Paperang Moth is a specific process that requires folding your paper correctly. The Paperang, when folded properly, will be a symmetrical plane with two flat wings resembling a boomerang. Make these planes to play with your friends but avoid throwing them towards the face or other delicate body parts.

Instructions

    • 1

Put a 8.5 by 11 inch piece of paper in front of you with the two longer sides on the top and bottom and the shorter sides on the left and right. Fold the paper in half by grabbing the right end and pulling it over so that it touches the left end. Crease the fold and keep the fold to the right.

    • 2

Slip your finger between the two folded halves of your sheet and grab the left corner of the first half. Pull the corner down and to the right, the original fold to create a triangle. Crease the fold.

    • 3

Turn your sheet of paper over and repeat the triangular folding procedure with the other half of the folded sheet to create a second triangle. Make sure you fold the triangle on the same side as the original triangle.

    • 4

Check your paper to make sure that your triangle folds take up most but not all of your rectangular sheet of paper. A small rectangle of unfolded paper should be left unfolded underneath the folded triangles.

    • 5

Turn your sheet of paper over and make sure the original fold is back to the right. Take the bottom right corner of the triangle you just folded and fold it upward along the original crease until it reaches the fold. Crease the line and repeat the process on the back side of the paper.

    • 6

Cut down the original right handed crease line until you reach the bottom of the small right hand triangle. Start at the left side of the rectangle and cut a curved, half boomerang shape through the triangle.

    • 7

Grab the first folded triangle and fold it in half over itself to create a wing. Fold the bottom backwards over itself in the same way. Keep the folds lined up as you fold.

    • 8

Fold the top wing downwards on itself again and crease the fold. Repeat this fold on the other side.

    • 9

Fold the small triangular shape on your top wing downwards. Don't fold the other tab back but open your wings by unfolding along the center line.

    • 10

Bend the other wing tab you didn't fold underneath itself and the original tab you folded. Staple the tabs together, turn over the plane and throw it by holding the stapled tabs.
