How to Change a Belt on a Shark Power Pet Vacuum
The Shark Power Pet is a bagless, upright vacuum cleaner specifically designed to help pet owners clean up after a shedding pet. The vacuum features a 10-amp motor, HEPA filtration system, easy-empty canister and an array of attachments for cleaning pet hair out of crevices. If the brush bar on your Shark Power pet vacuum isn't turning, a broken or worn belt is the most likely culprit. Fortunately, changing the belt on a Shark vacuum is a quick and simple process. Press the yellow handle release foot lever on the left side of the vacuum. Recline the handle until it lays flat against the floor. Turn the vacuum over so that the bottom is facing up toward you.

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the bottom plate onto the rest of the vacuum. Note that some Shark power pet vacuum models require you to remove two plates to access the belt cover.

Unsnap the belt cover to access the brush bar, motor assembly and belt. Unseat and remove the brush bar; lift the right side of the bar first, then the left. Set the brush bar aside.

Discard the broken or worn vacuum belt. Hook the replacement belt over the motor drive shaft. Slide the right side of the brush bar through the belt and then loop the belt over the agitator pulley. Seat both ends of the brush bar into the appropriate grooves on the inside of the vacuum.

Turn the brush bar by hand to ensure that the belt is threaded correctly.

Tips & Warnings
Reverse the instructions to reassemble the vacuum.
Never attempt to replace your vacuum belt while it is plugged into an electrical outlet. Performing repairs on your vacuum while it is still plugged in can lead to serious injury.
