How to Use a Jelly Ring
Jelly rings are dessert dishes composed of flavored gelatin. They often include whipped cream or fruit as well. A pan in the shape of a domed ring, with a hole in the middle, shapes the dessert. The pan and finished dessert are both called a jelly ring. You can mold the dessert with more than one layer. If you do, divide the water equally among the layers -- 1 cup of water for every packet of gelatin. Refrigerate the dish each time you add a layer. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Water
- Saucepan or tea kettle
- Bowl
- 3 packages of flavored gelatin (3.3 oz.)
- Stirring spoon
- Jelly ring
- Plate

Bring the water to a boil.

Pour the flavored gelatin into a bowl or bowls, depending on how many layers you are making. Add the boiling water. Mix the ingredients until the liquid is smooth.

Pour a mixture into the ring. Pour in all 3 cups of liquid if you want a single layer. Pour only one color in if you are making a layered jelly ring.

Refrigerate the ring. Let it to chill for one and a half hours if you filled the whole pan. Refrigerate it for one hour if you poured the first of of multiple layers.

Remove the pan from the refrigerator after one hour if you need to add a second layer. Pour the second mixture into the ring. Refrigerate it for another hour. Repeat the process one more time if you made a third layer.

Remove the jelly ring from the refrigerator to unmold it.

Place the mold on the counter. Lay a serving plate face down on top of the pan. Lift the pan and plate and turn them over. Sit the plate down. Lift the ring to release the gelatin onto the plate.
