Crocheted Nylon Pot Scrubber Instructions

Other fibers that work for pot scrubbers include cotton, hemp, linen and acrylic.

Crocheted nylon pot scrubbers are tough enough to slough away stubborn food particles from pots and pans while also being gentle to the nonstick surfaces. This quick and easy project is crocheted in the round using basic stitches worked through the back loops of the previous rounds to add ridges to the finished scrubber.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Chain 5 and join with a slipstitch in the first chain to form a ring.

    • 2

Chain 3 and crochet 15 double crochets through the center of the ring. Join with a slipstitch to the top of the chain 3 at the beginning of this round. The starting chain on each round will count as your first stitch; therefore, round one contains a total of 16 stitches.

    • 3

Chain 3 and double crochet in the joined chain stitch from the previous round. Working only in the back loops of the previous round, work 2 double crochets in each stitch. Join with a slipstitch to close the round. You should have 32 stitches and a small ridge between the two rounds.

    • 4

Chain 3 and double crochet in the joined chain from the previous round. Double crochet in the back loops of the next stitch.

    • 5

Working only in the back loops, make 2 double crochets in the next stitch, and then one double crochet in the following stitch. Repeat this 15 times. Join with a slipstitch in the top of the beginning chain 3 to close the round. You should have 48 stitches at the end of round three.

    • 6

Chain 1. Single crochet in the back loop of each stitch of the previous round. Join the work with a slipstitch in both loops of the first single crochet of this round. You should have 48 stitches at the end of round four.

    • 7

Fasten off your crochet thread and weave in the loose end.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not like the feel of the nylon crochet thread, crochet a second circular scrubber using the same pattern and cotton yarn in a comparable weight to attach to the nylon scrubber. To attach the two pieces, do not fasten off the cotton yarn at Step 7 of this pattern. Instead, hold both scrubbers together and slipstitch through both thicknesses in each corresponding stitch. When all stitches have been attached, fasten off the cotton yarn and weave in the yarn tail.

  • To find the back loop, notice that the top of each finished crocheted stitch has two horizontal loops. The loop that is farther from you is the back loop.
