How to Choose Audio Options with a Plasma TV

Determining the right screen size, the right viewing distance, and so on for a Plasma TV is importaint. However, one of the most important features to look for is the appropriate audio options available in that kind of television.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Assess how you will be using your Plasma TV. If you plan to use it with a home theater system, you will need high wattage speakers. If you are using it as a stand alone TV for general viewing, you may consider limited audio options.
Step2
Choose a television with built-in speakers. Two brands, Philips and Sony, are the only manufacturers that incorporate speakers within the frame. Other manufacturers offer additional speakers that can be attached to the sides of the display unit.
Step3
Decide whether you need extra amplifiers. Some companies provide built-in 7-8 watt amplifiers that attach at the sides of the television. However, these amplifiers consume large amounts of wattage for excellent output.
Step4
Buy flat slim speakers that can attach to the sides of the display unit. It is an ideal way to save space.

Step5
If the built-in speakers are not available, consider satellite speakers or buying small cubical speakers that can be mounted on the wall or on a bookshelf beside the television.
Step6
Use extra amplifiers if the built-in amplifiers are not provided or if surround sound is needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid situations that consume more wattage, such as using built-in amplifiers for watching programs like the news or displaying the unit in a boardroom or a trade show.
  • Use external amplifiers/receiver if better sound quality and surround sound is required.
