How to Bead Around a Metal Ring
Transform a metal ring into a beaded ring by combining seed beads with traditional hand stitching. Embellish the beaded ring with additional beaded fringe for a striking necklace pendant. Use a beaded metal ring as a key chain or curtain tieback. By using small seed beads, the beading will benefit from a custom fit around the metal ring.
Things You'll Need
- Beading needle
- Beading thread
- Metal ring
- 300 small seed beads
- Scissors
- White glue
- Toothpick
Instructions
-
-
1
Thread the beading needle with 36 inches of beading thread.
-
2
String as many beads as needed to fit around the outside edge of the metal circle. Join the circle by passing the needle through the beads a second time.
-
-
3
Add a second row of seed beads by stringing one bead on the thread and passing the needle and thread through a bead on the first row. Continue adding beads, skipping every third or fourth bead to enable a sure fit to the top edge of the metal circle while pulling the thread firmly.
-
4
Add a third row of beads by the same method, skipping every third or fourth bead of the previous row.
-
5
Attach the final row of beads to the first row by the same method, making the sure the entire metal ring is covered with snug fitting beads.
-
6
Cut and knot the thread with a secure double knot. Add a drop of white glue with the toothpick to the knot for added security.
