How to Use Radio Features on a Media Center PC

Listening to FM radio is great fun while using your Media Center PC. There are many advanced features, offering you a lot of control. You can pause, rewind and even fast forward audio tracks being played on FM.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Ensure the FM antenna is properly connected so you can receive the FM broadcast.
2. Begin by pressing "start" on the remote control. Select "start FM." Tune in to the frequency of your favorite radio station. Use the plus (+) and minus (-) tabs to seek the frequency. As soon as you hear the music, you have tuned in to the music station. Now you are ready to save your presets.
3. Save presets by selecting "save" at the set station. You can preset multiple radio stations by tuning in and saving them. Similarly, you can remove them from the memory by selecting “delete."
4. Learn the pause, replay and stop features. Media Center PC will begin recording live radio and keep a 30-minute buffer (lag) to enable rewinding, replay, pause and repeat functions.
5. Use your remote control when tuned in to your favorite station. Use "pause," "play" and "repeat" functions. You can use "skip" or "fast forward" to skip commercials.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure you allow enough recording time to your FM radio before using features such as "pause" and "rewind."
• Every time you switch off your system or reboot, the system will have to reload a fresh radio (live radio) broadcast before you can start using these features again.
• Make sure the FM tuner is present in your Media Center PC. Not all manufacturers provide it. If it's not found, you can buy one and attach it externally to the system.
• You can record your favorite songs, compile them into an album and burn an audio CD.
