How to Record Multiple Shows at Once on a Media Center PC

Recording multiple shows with a pre-timer using a Media Center PC is a common practice. The XP Media Center Edition 2005 offers more than just a digital TV experience. No longer will you have to struggle setting timers for each TV show you want to record. The new technology of Media Center PC allows you to record multiple TV shows at different times in a day by a single preset timer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Navigate to the Media Center Start menu using your remote control. The green Start button will allow you to begin.
2. Select "My TV" as it appears on the screen. Select "Search" on the My TV page to search for your favorite shows.
3. Select "Title" on the Search page. You can search a keyword by typing it using the remote control keys. For example, use two keys and press it once to enter "a." You can use the same key and type "b" by pressing it twice. With practice, you will learn to type keywords faster.
4. Press "Search" after you have entered the keyword for the TV show.
5. View the displayed results; there will be several names of TV shows similar to the keyword you searched.
6. Find the show you searched for and click-select it.
7. Select the future broadcast timings for the show. You can also select another show at future timings that you wish to record.
8. Select “Record Series” on the program Info page.
9. Check for conflict in timings. The shows you select may have conflicting record time or have an overlap. Media Center cannot record concurrent programs. If so, a conflict page will be displayed. Choose the "record only when no conflict exists" option and proceed.
10. Save and exit. Media Center will now record the series/ shows you have selected on their broadcast day and time.
