Pull any one color out of the bag. Say your multi-colored bag contains orange, purple, red and blue. Just like an interior designer pulls a pigment from a colorful pillow to paint walls or accessorize vases or paintings, you can wear any hue from the bag. Wear it in a blouse, shoes, pants or an accessory. You can also highlight the shade by wearing your entire outfit in the one you choose.

Use a color complement. Find the complement on the color wheel by looking for the hue appearing opposite the shade you want to emphasize in your handbag. Orange emphasizes the blue in a handbag; yellow complements purple. According to Color Wheel Pro, Sir Isaac Newton invented the first color wheel by splitting white sunlight into red, orange, yellow, green, cyan and blue, then joined the two ends of the spectrum of colors together to show their natural progression.

Dress with split complementary colors. A split complementary represents one color on the color wheel and the analogous, or one on each side of the color's complement for a total of three. The shades on each side are hues of the complement color. A handbag that contains a lot of red stands out when you wear an outfit containing yellow-green and blue-green. The other hues in the handbag should be similar to the split complementary colors chosen.
