1
Remove your diamond solitaire ring when washing your hands, swimming, bathing or doing housework. Chemicals, such as chlorine, some cleaning agents and even oils from your skin can adversely affect the sheen of your diamond. Household chores, such as dish washing, laundry and gardening can loosen your diamond from its setting or even cause it to fall out. In other words, wear your diamond ring as sparingly as possible.

Clean your diamond ring at least once a week. You can clean your diamond ring by gently scrubbing it with a soft or worn toothbrush using mild dish soap and water. You can also soak your ring in cold water and mild dish soap for several minutes. Cleaners especially made for jewelry can also be used. Ultrasonic cleaners, or devices that send liquid vibrations throughout the ring, are especially effective in clearing debris from hard-to-reach crevices. Dry your diamond ring with a cloth or tissue paper after cleaning.
