How to Install TiVo ToGo

With TiVo ToGo, you can transfer your shows from your TiVo to your PC and take it wherever you go. This way you don’t have to get home and turn on your TV to watch your recorded shows. The TiVo ToGo feature is a service now available to all networked TiVo Series2 DVRs. The networked TiVo Series2 DVRs come pre-installed with this feature. The existing TiVo Series2 DVRs are automatically updated by TiVo using the TiVo service network.

Things You’ll Need:

• TiVo Desktop Software
• DirectX 9.0 or later
• 25 MB free disk space for TiVo Desktop installation
• At least 5 GB of free disk space
• A 500-MHz or faster Pentium processer
• TiVo Series2 or Series2 DT DVR.
• Computer equipped with Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or XP
• At least 256 MB RAM

Steps to Check If You Have Already Received the Software Update

1. Go to the TiVo Central, which is the top level menu in your TiVo software.
2. Select the “Messages and Set up” button.
3. Go to “System Information” or “Account and System Information."
4. Click on "System Information" and note the version of your software.
5. Check to see if the version starts with 7.1-X. If yes, the software will have the TiVo ToGo feature.

Steps to Get and Install the TiVo ToGo Software

6. Sign up on a priority form to be on the priority list for getting the appropriate version of your TiVo software with TiVo ToGo software. Forms are available at the TiVo Web site (see below).
7. Verify that your TiVo box is connected to your home network.
8. Download and install the free TiVo Desktop software.
9. Follow the steps given online for installing the TiVo Desktop software.

• Currently, TiVoToGo transfers are not available for Apple Macintosh computers. This feature is also not compatible with DIRECTV® DVRs with TiVo®
