Instructions

    • 1

Read the care label. Make sure the garment is washable. If so, prepare the garment for washing by shaking off any visible dirt or crumbs. Lightly spray small amounts of pretreatment stain remover if necessary for spots. Use a soft cloth to gently rub the stained area in a circular motion, working from the outside toward the inside of the stain.

    • 2

Set the garment aside for a few minutes to let the stain remover set into the fabric. While the garment is sitting, fill a small tub or basin with warm water and a gentle soap. Place the garment in the bath and let it soak for 10 to 15 minutes. If garment is badly stained, let it soak longer.

    • 3

After soaking the garment, rinse it in lukewarm water to remove the soap. Continue rinsing the garment until all the soap is removed. Place the garment between two layers of thick towels and roll to squeeze out excess water. Do not wring.

    • 4

Lay the garment on a flat, clean surface to dry. Make sure to lay it flat to help the silk maintain its shape.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your silk garment's care label specifes "dry clean only," take it to your local dry cleaners. Do not attempt to wash at home. Silks that require dry cleaning can shrink or fade if washed.
