How to Make the Sticky Bombs Blow Up in "Grand Theft Auto IV"

The new weapons available in "The Ballad Of Gay Tony," an expansion to the video game "Grand Theft Auto IV," include sticky bombs. While sticky bombs do not cling to people, they can be thrown and attached to any of the vehicles in the game. Because the blast radius of a sticky bomb is comparable to that of a grenade, it is an ideal weapon for taking out multiple enemy targets that are close to each other. The player also controls the detonation, making the sticky bomb a good weapon for traps.

Instructions

    • 1

Press "Left" or Right" on the D-pad to cycle through your available weapons until you have the "Sticky Bombs" equipped.

    • 2

Use the right analog stick to aim, then press the right trigger button to throw the sticky bomb. If it hits a vehicle or vertical surface, the bomb will stick to it.

    • 3

Keep throwing sticky bombs if you want to blow up more than one. You can have a maximum of 10 sticky bombs in the game world. After that, bombs you threw previously will start disappearing to make way for the new ones. In multiplayer, the sticky bomb limit is two.

    • 4

Press "Down" on the D-pad to detonate your sticky bombs. Alternatively, cycle through your weapons by pressing "Left" or "Right" on the D-pad until you have a gun, then shoot the sticky bombs to blow them up.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once you throw a sticky bomb, you have about a minute and a half before it blows up on its own. Make sure you are out of the blast radius before that happens. Bumping into sticky bombs can also cause them to detonate, so beware of cars you have planted sticky bombs on ramming into your own vehicle.
