Your bookmarks on your computer are easily exported and saved from Firefox so that you can back up, share or use them on another computer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Open up a Firefox window.

  2. Step 2

Click on the “Bookmarks” menu and select “Manage Bookmarks...”

  3. Step 3

Click on the “File” menu and select “Export” in the window that pops up.

  4. Step 4

Give your bookmarks whatever title you like and choose a location to save them, in the save window that comes up.

  5. Step 5

Open this file on any computer with a Web browser and click on the links to go to each bookmark, now that your bookmarks are saved as an HTML file. Or you can import them into the bookmarks or favorites menu of another computer. To learn how to do this, read the how-to right here on eHow.

on 10/22/2009 There is an icon in the bookmark window that opens when you organize bookmarks. I have a mac and the export option is not available under "File".

See the Firefox help site for the graphic windows to use:

on 6/8/2009 My firefox doesn't even have an 'export' option! Only import. How's that possible? It's run on a Mac OS X 10.5.7 and Firefox version 3.0.10.

on 1/14/2009 1. Open Mozilla Firefox.
2. Click Bookmarks and then "Organize Bookmarks".
3. Click "Export HTML" or Click "Import and Backup" and then "Backup". We suggest Exporting to HTML since all browsers support the ability to easily read these files.
4. Type the filename you wish to save the file as and the destination and then click the Save button.
