How to Close a Nylon String Bracelet

How to Close a Nylon String Bracelet thumbnail
Some friendship bracelets use nylon string.

Nylon string bracelets consist of braided strings of nylon. The bracelet maker begins by tying the strings together and forming a small loop at the starting end. At the end of the braid, she leaves short lengths of nylon unbraided, then uses these to close the bracelet around the wrist. Knotting the bracelet is much easier if you ask a friend to hold it around the wrist while you're tying it.

Instructions

    • 1

Tie the ends of the short unbraided lengths of nylon string together. Knot them by wrapping the three strands around your finger and inserting the ends up through the loop you've formed around your finger. Pull the end through and tighten the knot.

    • 2

Wrap the bracelet around the wrist.

    • 3

Insert the now-attached nylon lengths through the loop you made to start the bracelet at the opposite end.

    • 4

Attach the nylon lengths to the loop using at least two overhand knots. If your bracelet has two ends with nylon lengths instead of one with a loop, tie the ends together using at least two overhand knots.
