How to Build With Balloons
Balloons aren't just for kids' parties, nor do they have to look cheesy or tacky. With today's wide array of balloon sizes, shapes, colors and styles, you can decorate even the most elegant party with little more than a bag of balloons. Though traditional balloon bouquets give a party color and style, you can't cover walls or transform areas with bunches of balloons. Instead, try erecting balloon structures. Architectural elements, like arches and columns, cover large spaces very quickly and inexpensively.

1
Fill your balloons with a helium tank. Balloon size depends on the holding capacity of the balloons and how large you want your balloons to be. You may make all of your balloons the same size, or use two different sizes for visual interest. For two sizes, fill balloons to each size in sets of four.
-
2
Overlap the knots of two balloons of the same size and secure them together with a twist tie. Repeat with a second pair of balloons.

3
Cross the two pairs of balloons so they form a plus sign. Grip the knots at the center of the plus sign and twist them together. You may also simply use another twist tie.
-
4
Open the space between the top and left arm of the balloon plus sign. Slip the pipe for the arch or column between these two balloons and squeeze the balloons closed. If the balloons don't stay closed, secure them with a glue dot between the balloons.
-
5
Twist and add a second balloon plus sign, settling each balloon in the second plus sign between two balloons in the first plus sign. Continue until the entire column or arch is full.

Tips & Warnings
Alternate sizes, colors and sheen. For instance, you could create an arch with alternating white and silver balloons, metallic blue and matte white balloons or large red and small yellow balloons.
