How to Format Facebook Links

How to Format Facebook Links thumbnail
Facebook links appear along with your status updates and other shared items.

Facebook lets you share links to other Web pages from your Facebook profile so that your friends can click to view them outside of Facebook. A Facebook link shows the destination Web page title, a short snippet of information from the page, and a preview image if applicable. You can share URLs on Facebook by copying and pasting them from the destination website to the Facebook status update box; but you can do it manually as long as they are properly formatted.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to Facebook and click the "Link" link that appears beneath the "What's On Your Mind?" status box at the top of your News Feed. This converts the status box into a box in which you can enter a link.

    • 2

Click inside the link box and type "http://" without quotes. This designates the text that follows as a link.

    • 3

Type the rest of the URL of the link. For example, if you want the link to navigate to the Tech Tips section at Salon.com, type "techtips.salon.com" without quotes.

    • 4

Click the "Attach" button below the link box. This displays the target website's title and a preview of its contents. Click the "Share" button below to share the link with your Facebook friends.
