DIY Custom Studded Jackets
Studded jackets aren't just for bikers and punks anymore. It is becoming a popular trend in fashion. Jackets are not the only material being studded. You can find studs on shoes, shirts, pants and purses. Purchasing a studded jacket can put quite a dent in your pocketbook. It is much cheaper to just make one yourself. If you already have a jacket you want to modify all you need to buy are some studs, pliers and a sharp box cutter. Does this Spark an idea?

Find a jacket: any color, any material. Keep in mind denim jackets are the easiest to stud. Purchase studs with two prongs on the back. Decide weather you want pyramid shaped studs or cone shaped studs. Look up pictures of studded jackets to get an idea for where you want to place your studs.

Poke two small holes in the fabric the same width as the stud prongs. Feed the stud through the hole. Flip the material over. Bend the prongs down with the pliers to hold the stud. Make sure the stud is secure tightly. Bend more if needed.

Continue the same process for each stud. Add spikes to your jacket along with the studs. Poke a large hole, big enough for the spike to fit. Feed the spike through the hole. Flip over the fabric. Screw in the back of the spike. Outline the edge of the pockets, collar and shoulders. Design the jacket to fit your personal style. Use as many studs and spikes as you want.

Tips & Warnings
You can find studs at your local craft store or online.
Add patches and pins to your jacket to make it more unique.
You can also cut off the sleeves of the jacket to make it a vest.
