How to Crochet Beer Cozies

You can protect your furniture from marring by placing cozies on your beverages.

You can prevent your cold beverage from sweating and dripping all over the place by putting a cozy over the can or bottle. The cozy will insulate the beverage and keep your beer icy cold. You can crochet beer cozies with cotton yarn, ensuring their washability and have them ready for any event. You can create a six-pack of beer cozies in a matter of a few days with little effort.

• Cotton yarn
• Size G crochet hook
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Tie a slip knot by forming a loop of yarn and pulling a loop of yarn through. Pull taut around the crochet hook.

2. Form two chain stitches by placing the yarn over the hook and pulling through the loop of yarn on the hook.

3. Crochet eight, half-double crochet stitches into the second chain stitch from the crochet hook or the last chain stitch. Half-double crochet by placing the yarn over the hook, inserting the hook into the stitch, yarn over once more and pull through all three loops on the hook. Join the row together with a slip-stitch by inserting the hook into the first half-double, yarn over and pull through the loop on the hook.

4. Chain two stitches and place one half-double crochet into the same stitch. Crochet two half-double crochet stitches into each remaining stitch. Join the row together with a slip-stitch. This row contains 16 stitches.

5. Chain two stitches and place one half-double crochet into the same stitch. Crochet one half-double crochet stitch into the next stitch. Continue crocheting the row by placing two half-double crochet stitches into the next stitch, followed by one half-double crochet stitches into the next stitch. Join the row together with a slip-stitch. This row contains 24 stitches.

6. Chain two stitches and place one half-double crochet into each of the 24 stitches. Join the row together with a slip-stitch. Continue this pattern of 24 half-double crochet stitches per row until the cozy reaches the height desired.

7. Chain one and place one single crochet into each of the 24 stitches around. Join the row together with a slip-stitch.

8. Cut the yarn leaving 3 inches of yarn on the cozy. Tie off by inserting the end into the last loop on the hook and pulling taut. Work the remaining yarn into the stitches hiding the end.
