If you have hazel eyes, celebrate your luck. This unique blend of green, gold and brown is coveted by your blue- and brown-eyed peers. Most commonly accompanied by a fair-to-medium complexion, people with hazel eyes have a beautiful set of coloring. Regardless of how fair or tan you are, determine if your skin's undertone is warm, cool or neutral. The hue of your skin and color of your eyes are the key factors in finding your perfect hair color.

Know Your Coloring

More often than not, the skin tones of people with hazel eyes range from fair ivory to medium caramel. Whatever the shade of your complexion, it's really the undertones of your skin that determine which colors look most flattering on you. To figure out if you are warm-, cool- or neutral-toned, take one piece of silver and one piece of gold jewelry. Put on earrings or hold a necklace or watch up to your face and see which looks better. If it's the gold, you probably have warm undertones; if it's silver, they're most likely cool. If you can't tell either way, you could be neutral-toned.

Light Hues

If you're looking for a blond, light brown or light reddish hair color, these often provide the perfect complement to your hazel eyes. Most blond dyes enhance the brightness in hazel eyes, so try a golden, buttery shade. Going a bit darker can look even better on medium-tanned skin, so opt for "bronde": rich honey light brown. These hues bring out the natural gold flecks in your eyes. Light reds like strawberry blond offer a unique contrast to the green hues in hazel eyes, but light copper reds would work as well. Avoid platinum white-blond -- it can wash you out even if you have a darker complexion.

Dark and Daring

Rich brown and red hair colors can create a bold look if you have hazel eyes. Warm chestnut brown and neutral chocolate brown are great for making the green and gold in hazel eyes pop. If you have a lighter complexion, don't go darker than chocolate brown. Deep auburn shades provide the perfect contrast for hazel eyes with their blends of red and warm brown. Dark "cherry soda" red is a great hue that lends a soft glow when going dark and daring with hair color. Avoid jet-black dyes -- if you're hazel-eyed, they wash out fair skin and can create a ruddiness on caramel skin.

The Winners

There are certain color choices that provide the best possible amplification of your hazel eyes. One rule you'll hear from almost any stylist is to stay within a few shades of your natural hair color. If you have warm-toned skin and light hair, golden blond will look the best with your hazel eyes. For fair, cool-toned skin, try a medium golden brown and add highlights for depth. Dark mahogany brown hair radiates on warm-toned, tanned skin and makes hazel eyes sparkle. Auburn is one of the best universal shades for people with hazel eyes and cool-toned skin.
