You can make many different items using the same mold.

Mold compounds come in a variety of substances but have one thing in common: they will create molds that you can use repeatedly when making jewelry and other craft projects. While some mold compounds work well at room temperature, Ferris compounds require baking during the preparation process.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the compound from the can using a wooden spatula and create your mold by surrounding the object you want to replicate with it. Spread your molds out on wax paper. Put the wax paper on a baking sheet.

    • 2

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. When the oven has come up to temperature, slide the baking sheet in. Bake until you can see through the compound. The heat makes the compound transparent and soft.

    • 3

Use a craft knife to cut the mold so that you can take the model out. Next, put the mold back together, taking care to return both sides to the same position where they were when you started to cut. Slide the injection tube through the incision into the hollowed-out mold, filling it with wax. When the wax dries, you'll have a finished replica.

Tips & Warnings

  • According to the manufacturer, you can make 10 to 14 molds out of one quart of Ferris Mold Compound.
