How to Tell Elevator Brands Apart

Elevator manufacturers typically imprint the brand on the elevator.

The elevator remains one of the most revolutionary inventions of the modern era. It has permitted the vertical growth of human civilization by facilitating the rapid upward and downward transportation of people and things. Today, commercial and residential high-rises, as well as industrial facilities and various public buildings, rely on elevators for daily functioning. Numerous elevator manufacturers produce the devices, but you can determine the brand.

1. Look at the plate above or adjacent to the numbers. It will often be imprinted with the manufacturer name and brand name.

2. Look at the hyrdraulic reservoir, at the very base of the elevator on the lowest floor, for elevator brand information.

3. Check the rotary pump, which may have a brand name imprinted next to the rotary information.

4. Look at the manual for information about the maker of the elevator. You can do this if you are a building services manager or other such person in a position to oversee the operation of the elevator.
