Have you ever washed clothes numerous times but still couldnt get those pesky stains out? Learning the right way to properly pretreat your clothes will drastically improve your stain removal percentage.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pretreatment spray
  • mild or neutral soap
  1. Step 1

Treat stains sooner rather than later. The quicker a stain is treated the more likely it is to come out. Let garments soak in the pretreatment spray for 10 to 15 minutes before washing and longer periods of time for deep set in stains.

  2. Step 2

Treat cottons and polyesters with any kind of pretreatment spray. Be more liberal if the stain is large or set in.

  3. Step 3

Linen and silk should be treated differently. Use a mild or neutral soap to treat and dab on lightly. Only use this method if items are washable.

  4. Step 4

Make sure if an item is dry clean only and you plan on taking it to the dry cleaners that you do not pretreat it. This can mess up the dry cleaning process. Do not use water on a silk or linen itme as this will leave a water spot.

  5. Step 5

If you have any hesitation about removing a stain take the garment to your local dry cleaner.
