Have you ever wanted to wear a suit or wool slacks that were too wrinkled to wear but the care label cautioned against ironing? And of course there isn't time to take it to the cleaners. Never mind, there is a way to iron it yourself if you follow these easy steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • towel
  • iron and ironing board
  1. Step 1

Lay garment on your ironing board.

  2. Step 2

Take a small hand towel, dish towel or rag and lay it on top of your garment.

  3. Step 3

Set your iron at a low setting and iron on top of the towel. You will need to use a pressing motion instead of a moving motion to make the iron work through the towel.

  4. Step 4

Be patient with heavily wrinkled items. This process will take longer. You may have to go over the garment several times.

  5. Step 5

Press only where the towel is covering the garment. Ironing directly on the garment will leave a shiny mark that cannot be removed.

Tips & Warnings
  • This will not work on silk, chiffon, or toile fabrics. These fabrics can be steamed only. See How to Steam a Formal Dress in a Hurry.
