How to Set up Drupal Meta Tags With Node Type

The Meta Tags Node Type module for Drupal versions 5 and 6 lets you manually set a default meta keyword and description field for a specific node type. Node types include Story and Page by default, although you are free to create additional node types. Node types are also known as content types. Setting default meta keywords and descriptions can speed up your article workflow when using Drupal because the information is automatically configured.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign into your dashboard and click on "Administer," then "Modules." Verify the Meta Tags Node Type module has a check next to it, which indicates it's enabled. If it doesn't, check the box and click "Save Configuration."

    • 2

Click "Content Management" on the sidebar, then select "Content Types."

    • 3

Choose the content type for which you want to set the meta tags. The default types are Story (used for articles) and Page (used for basic pages). Click on "Edit."

    • 4

Scroll down and click on "Meta Tags Node Type" to open the options box.

    • 5

Choose whether you want to hide the content type from search engines by default, and then type your default keywords.

    • 6

Type your default meta description. This is used for all published articles under the content type. The meta description is displayed beneath the post or page title in search engine results.

    • 7

Click on "Save Content Type" to save the changes and set up the Meta Tags Node Type module.
