How to Mount a Heavy Plasma TV
One appealing fact about owning a big screen plasma television is the ability to hang it on your wall. The televisions are so thin, that with a single mount, you can hang it like a picture on the wall. You must be careful to mount your television securely. Using an improper mount or installing it incorrectly could result in a damaged television. As long as you take the time to do the job right, there's nothing to worry about.

1
Purchase a mount that is appropriate for your heavy plasma television. Double-check the size recommendations for your mount before purchasing it.
-
2
Unbox your mount and organize your parts. You'll have two major components, a mount for the wall and brackets for the back of the television. You'll also have bolts and screws to hold them in place.

3
Locate the position on the wall where you would like to hang the television. Use the stud finder to locate the wall studs in that area. Mark them clearly with your pencil.
-
4
Hold the wall mount up against the wall where you would like to hang it. Line up the screw holes on the mount with the studs on your wall.
-
5
Place the level on top of the mount and adjust it until it is level. Use your pencil to mark the screw holes on your wall. Set the mount aside.
-
6
Select a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the lag screws you'll be using to hold the mount on the wall. Install the bit in your drill and pre-drill the screw holes into the wall studs.
-
7
Hold the mount against the wall and secure it in place with the lag screws that came with the mount. Make sure you tighten each screw well and that they all screw into the studs.
-
8
Attach the mounting brackets to the back of your television using the screw holes on the back of the device. Line up the holes on the brackets with the holes on your television and secure them in place using the provided bolts. Tighten each bolt well.
-
9
Hook the top of the mounting bracket on to the top of the mounting bracket on the wall. Press the bottom of the television against the wall until it snaps into place.

Tips & Warnings
Some wall mounts may have a different procedure from this. Make sure to read your product's manual to ensure you understand your specific mount.
This procedure is much easier with a second pair of hands to hold parts in place while you secure them.
Take your time to mount your TV properly. If the unit falls off the wall, it will certainly damage the television and could cause injury.
When attaching the mounting brackets to the back of your television, do not lay it down. This can damage the screen.
