Instructions

    • 1

Decide which of the two types of snowblowers you need. A single-stage blower whirls the auger at high speed. A two-stage blower with a slower-moving auger has more power.

    • 2

Get your snowblower serviced before snow falls.

    • 3

Check the engine oil level, clutch, blower system, and chute positioning before starting.

    • 4

Spray the discharge chute with silicone spray before use to reduce clogging.

    • 5

Blow snow the natural direction from the impeller, usually to the right.

    • 6

Check wind direction and work with the prevailing wind direction.

    • 7

Avoid backing up; work in circles instead.

    • 8

Try not to avoid blowing snow twice.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the weather forecast predicts snowfall, inspect the driveway and sidewalks that will need to be cleared. Remove all objects that may cause injury or damage the snowblower. Check the area again before starting the blower.

  • Know how to stop the machine quickly and shut the engine off.

  • If a hand or foot gets caught in the snowblower, serious injury is likely. Keep all shields in place and keep hands and feet away from all moving parts.

ARRRG! I failed to remember that a thick organic material doormat was under the snow and now it has lodged itself WELL inside my 2 stage snowblower. The drive belt began to smoke before I realized something was wrong. Any suggestions before I start taking the thing apart? Not sure where to start. Find a nut, loosen and wait for things to fall apart until I can pull pieces of rug out?
