How to Re-Dye Your Pants
If your pants have become faded and worn over time, you can revive them by dyeing them -- saving you the cost of a new pair. Dyeing, or re-dyeing, your favorite pants or jeans can hide bleach stains, cover any uneven spots or just bring them back to their original color. To re-dye pants, follow the same instructions as if you were dyeing them for the first time, although the dye may not need to sit as long, depending on the color you wish you achieve and how faded they have become. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Start out with a clean pair of pants, free of stains not caused by bleach. The dye will not stick to any stains when attempting this process; it will only discolor them.
-
2
Mix up the dye. This can be purchased from any drug or chain store. Do this by emptying the packet into a disposable cup or bowl with two cups of hot water. Mix with a spoon until dissolved. Empty the dye mix into a bucket filled with three gallons of water. Mix once more.

3
Put the pants into the bucket, after wetting them thoroughly in hot water. They will become darker the longer they sit in the dye-water. They will only continue to dye if the water remains hot.
-
4
Remove the pants from the dye water once you feel they have reached the desired color. Rinse them in a sink with warm then cool water until it runs clear.
-
5
Place in washer and wash inside out with cold water on a delicate cycle. Use color-safe detergent.
