How to Fix a Dead Pixel on an ASUS VK222U Monitor

How to Fix a Dead Pixel on an ASUS VK222U Monitor thumbnail
A dead or stuck pixel appears as a red, green, blue or black dot on a computer screen.

LCD screens, including the ASUS VK222U's monitor, may sometimes have minor internal issues, such as transistors not working or an error in the distribution of LCD liquid. This can cause some pixels to appear as a single color on the screen, regardless of the color of the images displayed on the screen. The pixel can be fixed, however, by either rubbing the screen or using a pixel-fixing program.

Instructions

  1. Pressure

    • 1

      Shut the computer down.

    • 2

Put a damp cloth on the screen.

    • 3

Rub the screen where the dead pixel is located using the eraser over the cloth for 30 seconds.

    • 4

Turn the computer on. Continue to rub until it has fully turned on.

    • 5

Stop rubbing the eraser against the screen and take the cloth off. The pixel will be working again.

    Pixel-Fixing Program

    • 6

Go to a website that specializes in fixing dead pixels. These websites will play a loop of bright flashing colors on your screen. Recommended websites are UDPixel, JScreenFix and Stuck Pixel Sweeper.

    • 7

      Download the software.

    • 8

Open the flashing image and maximize it so it fills the entire screen. Leave it to play for an hour.

    • 9

Close the window after an hour has passed. The pixels will no longer be dead.

Tips & Warnings

  • When using the pressure method, one way to remember where the dead pixels are located on your screen is by placing sticky notes over them. Remove the sticky note before rubbing the screen.
