How to Make Homemade Hammocks

Do you dream about lazing around your backyard sipping ice cold lemonade enjoying the good old summertime in your very own hammock? Did you know that making a homemade hammock is easy and inexpensive? All you need is a bit of patience and five basic materials to make your dream hammock. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. What Do I Need?

    • The most important ingredients that you need to make your own hammock are high quality materials. The fabric, thread and rope that you choose will determine the quality and durability of your homemade hammock. There are only five items that you need for this project.

      1. 3 yards of good quality fabric that is at least 36 inches wide, strong thick cotton canvas works best
      2. Good thick cotton sewing thread
      3. A needle for sewing
      4. 50 feet of strong rope that is 3/8 inch in diameter
      5. Masking Tape.

      Using a sewing machine to do the finishing on your hammock will save you time, but this project can also be made by hand.
