Learning Macromedia Dreamweaver 8
-
Introduction
-
Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 is a web design program. Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 will allow you to design a web page without knowing HTML. But it is helpful to know some HTML terms so you will have control over your web content and be able to avoid WYSWIG (what you see is what you get). You can use Macromedia Dreamer 8 like a word processor. Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 has a Designer workspace for beginners who do not know HTML and a Coder workspace for people who do know HTML.
Work Space and Tools
-
Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 has a large workspace area that can be changed to meet your basic needs. The workspace is like your work area at the office. It has all the tools and resources you need to get the job done. You can setup your workspace to be the Designer or Coder.
Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 workspace tools are the Document Window, Menu and Insert bar, Toolbar, Properties Inspector and Panels. The Document Window is the stage area where you will design your web page by adding images and text. The Menu bar is the same as the pull-down menu where you save, close, edit or view your files. The Menu Bar has all Macromedia commands. The Insert Bar is a shortcut menu with buttons that allows you to place text and graphics in your Document Window. The Insert Bar allows you to make web page layouts or create forms. The Document Toolbar is a shortcut menu that allows you to preview, view or display web pages. The Document Toolbar allows you to change your document to Design View or Code View. Using the Document Toolbar, you can upload your web pages or launch your web pages. Properties Inspector (Tag Inspector) allows you to make changes to your web page content in the Document Window. The Property Inspector allows you to change the text format, change images and create hyperlinks. Panels are windows that show the Design, Code, Application, Tag, Files, Layers and History features you have used to design your web page. Panels shows lists and keeps track of the all the images, text, colors and URLs from your web pages.
