How Does StriVectin SD Work?

  1. What Is Strivectin-SD?

    • Strivectin-SD is an anti-aging product line that originally started as a stretch mark cream. It is labeled a "cosmeceutical" because although its not an actual medical pharmaceutical product which needs a doctor's prescription, it's actually stronger than a cosmetic product. Clinical trials were done to test the efficacy of the product for stretch marks, but then, according to Gina Gay, spokesperson for Klein-Becker (the product's distributor), the success of Strivectin-SD is just "dumb luck." The story goes that when they first gave friends and family samples of the cream to try, it was labeled "topical cream," which caused confusion as to what it was for and some of them began using it on their face as a moisturizer! The rumour mill spread like wildfire and, although the cream was marketed "intensive concentrate for existing stretch marks," it became a secret beauty tool for many women (and men) in the know in 2002. Strivectin-SD began selling in high-end retail stores like Sephora and then was found in Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue.

    How Does Strivectin-SD Work?

    • It has been claimed by its manufacturers to be "better than botox." But does Strivectin-SD really work? 93% of subjects noticed an increased noticed a considerable difference in stretch marks. According to Klein Becker USA, each particular ingredient was found to "substantially decrease the length of stretch marks, decrease the depth of indented surfaces, increase the smoothness and firmness of the skin, correct irregular skin discoloration and increase the stimulation of glycosaminoglycan and collagen synthesis."

Strivectin-SD is instructed to be massaged into the skin twice a day, in a circular motion to treat wrinkles and usually takes about 28 days to have visible effects; if followed, it reduces wrinkles by as much as 68 percent.

Strivectin-SD works by stimulating the skin to repair itself on a cellular level. The ingredients are made up of a unique patented olego-peptide complex called "Pal-KTTKS" that stimulates skin regeneration and allows bonds to form that couldn't before, thereby improving elasticity and firmness.

    • Before using Strivectin-SD in a regular daily regimen, it is recommended to speak with a doctor first. People with sensitive skin should first consult a dermatologist before using Strivectin-SD which has some ingredients that may be too strong for sensitive skin. Strivectin-SD should not be used if you are pregnant or nursing; the formula may affect hormone levels due to the soy content in the ingredients. It is not for anyone under the age of 18. Strivectin-SD is highly concentrated, so it is not to be used more than three times per day and should be used sparingly. If you get a rash, severe redness or any other issues that are not normal to your routine, discontinue use of Strivectin-SD immediately.
