Toothpick dispensers allow a large amount of toothpicks to be housed in one device, and then released individually. This device keeps the toothpicks clean and contained. Instead of fishing around in a bowl for a toothpick, you can just hit a lever and get a sanitary toothpick.
How They Are Constructed
Toothpick holders typically hold between 50 and 100 toothpicks. Inside a small housing unit that holds the toothpicks is a flat plane that sits on a vertical-spring round pin. The plane is curved at both ends downward, with a small lip at each end. The curved plane hangs slightly over the edge of the housing chamber, with the small lip protruding outwards. This part acts as the "push" lever for dispensing. The plane moves back and forth over the vertical-spring round pin, allowing movement inside the chamber.
How They Operate
When you want to obtain a toothpick, just push the lever on the outside of the chamber. Inside the chamber, the toothpicks sit on top of the flat plane. As the lever is pushed from the outside, the toothpicks move down the plane and rest at the end of the lip. When the lever is released, the plane moves back upward and keeps the other toothpicks in the chamber, where they wait to be released when the lever is pushed again.
