How Do Lasers Treat Flat Warts on the Face?
-
Description
-
Flat warts are smooth, flat, yellow-brown warts that are benign tumors of the epidermis. They are usually located on the face and near scratch lines, and they often are displayed in clusters. They are most common in children and young adults. They don't cause health problems, but they are visually unappealing and often hard to remove because of the thick skin that covers them. If not removed through medicine or surgery, they will become larger and higher in quantity.
Initial Treatment
-
When flat warts appear on your face, the initial treatments to try are multiple topical creams that cause peeling and removal of flat warts. However, the medication can often not penetrate the wart because of how thick the skin around the wart is. If this medication doesn't work, mild acids, such as salicylic or glycolic acid, are placed directly on the warts daily. If this still doesn't work, laser treatment is recommended next.

Laser Treatment
-
With laser treatment, usually an anesthetic is applied to numb the skin; otherwise the procedure can feel painful. Then, a laser wand is placed near each wart or cluster of warts on your face, and the high intensity of the light beam burns and kills the warts. Each treatment takes about half an hour, and sometimes multiple treatments are needed. The next few days are painful as the skin recovers in that area. However, the scar is usually smaller than with other types of surgery.
For the least amount of scarring, Laser Peel provides short, direct pulsating beams on the skin that will take layers off, layer-by-layer, decreasing the chance of abnormal lightening of the skin.
