How Exercise Can Benefit Lifetime Fitness
-
Introduction
-
In a world full of unhealthy choices when it comes to fitness, it can be difficult to commit to a regular exercise routine. However, making the time will not only change your life now, but it can also change the quality of health you experience for the rest of your life. Exercise not only helps you lose weight over time, but it can also affect your heart and lungs--even your brain.
Heart
-
According to American Heart Association statistics, those older than 60 are at a much higher risk of succumbing to heart disease or a heart attack. Heart attacks, however, can happen at almost any age. One of the best ways to prevent heart issues is to start at a younger age taking care of your heart. One of the best ways to do this is through exercise. Exercise helps prevent heart problems by increasing both the health of your heart directly, as well as through promoting healthy heart-related functions, such as blood pressure and cholesterol levels. By introducing exercise now, you can dramatically lower your chances of heart problems in the future.

Lungs
-
Exercise can also benefit and increase the health of your lungs throughout your lifetime. Daily exercise can increase the fitness and capabilities of your lungs. Your lungs are responsible for infusing your blood supply with oxygen. The greater amount of oxygen your lungs can supply to your body, the greater your health level will be throughout your lifetime.
Weight
-
According to the National Institute of health, nearly two-thirds of the United States population are overweight. Approximately one-third of the United States population is not only overweight but obese. Although obesity is an epidemic, it is treatable. Introducing regular exercise will not just drop the pounds now, but it can also help keep your body at a healthy weight for the rest of your life. This can dramatically lower your chances of succumbing to diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease and even some forms of cancer.
Mental
-
Exercise can also benefit your life by helping stave off diseases of the mind. According to the Merck Medical Library, exercise can influence the mind by increasing the release of endorphins in your body. Endorphins are chemicals that act as your body's natural pain killers and also give off a sense of well being. This increase of endorphins can help prevent the occurrence of problems, such as depression and anxiety, and may even help prevent future problems, such as dementia.
