How Does a Comforter Cover Work?
-
Changes the Look of the Room
-
A comforter cover is like a huge pillowcase which covers a comforter or duvet. It has three sides that are sewn together, and the fourth side is open to slide the comforter in or out. It may be closed with zippers, buttons, snaps or Velcro. When a bare comforter is covered, the color and mood of the room can change to match the cover. A comforter cover may be purchased with matching pillowcases, sheets, shams and a bed skirt to entirely change the look of the bed.
Celebrate the Seasons
-
During the summer, percale or satin sheets feel nice and cool, while in the winter, slipping into flannel sheets and comforters prevents the feeling that you've just slid into the freezer. Flannel bedlinens often have seasonal and holiday motifs. Having a separate comforter cover for two or three seasons of the year provides not only a different look for your bedroom, but also a seasonally appropriate fabric to aid you in getting a good night's sleep.

Saves Laundry
-
Accidents do happen, from children, pets or illness. When an accident happens on your bed, you can restore your room much more easily by slipping off the cover, washing it and recovering the comforter. This also saves drying time, as it is much easier to dry just a comforter cover, rather than the entire comforter.
