Digital photo frames are electronic devices used to display digital image files. They mimic traditional photo frames in shape and size, but as opposed to only displaying one picture, a digital photo frame can alternate between a number of different pictures at random or at user-specified intervals. Pictures can be changed digitally, so there is no need to have photos printed out.

Digital photo frames are mostly sold in sizes ranging from 7 to 12 inches. However, smaller sizes (such as key chain digital photo frames) and larger sizes are available. Most commercially available digital photo frames display only image files in the .JPEG file format. However, more expensive models can display various file types, including .MOV video files. Certain models also have built-in speakers used for playing video files as well as .MP3 audio files over slide shows.

Most commercially available digital photo frames display image files at a resolution of 430 pixels by 234 pixels. Some digital photo frames are tailor-made for displaying landscape pictures (where they are wider than they are tall), and have an aspect ratio of 16x9. Digital photo frames range in price from $29.99 for the smallest models up to $200 for the more expensive and feature-filled models.
