How Does Lipodrene Work?

    • Lipodrene is a popular weight-loss supplement that is designed to burn fat and promotes weight loss from the abdominal area, buttocks, hips and thighs. It does this by regulating certain chemicals in the body that can undermine the user's ability to maintain a healthy diet and ultimately lead to weight gain. According to the Nutra-Source retail website (www.lipodrene.org), the product can burn fat, boost the user's energy, and act as a diuretic while suppressing the appetite. There is more than one formula of Lipodrene available, and studies are uncertain if one formula is more effective than another. The same basic compounds are in all formulas.

    Benefits

    • Lipodrene aids in the production of an enzyme that prevents the body from absorbing excess fat and simply excreting it from the system. Lipodrene also corrects serotonin imbalances that cause cravings and stimulate the appetite. Serotonin regulation can have an impact on a person's sense of satisfaction and feeling full. By regulating serotonin levels, the user is less inclined to binge-eat or to indulge in overeating.

    Research

    • The maker's website cites several research studies that verify the effects of Lipodrene. These studies were done by the University of Chicago and published in the International Journal of Obesity, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and the New England Journal of Medicine.

    Key Ingredients

    • A basic form of Lipodrene contains the following ingredients: green tea extract, hoodia gordonii, coryphantha macromeris extract (a stimulant and mild hallucinogenic found in cactus) and phenylethylamine (a mood enhancer also found in chocolate that promotes positive mood and well-being).
Some blends of Lipodrene also contain Citrus aurantium, a compound similar chemically to ephedra. It is believed to stimulate weight loss by boosting metabolism, but there aren't any reliable studies to verify this claim. The product also contains yohimbe, a compound often touted as a natural aphrodisiac that can also promote weight loss. On its own, yohimbe has also been used to correct impotence. However, it can produce unpredictable changes in blood pressure, and should be used with caution.
Naringen is also in the product. It is a grapefruit extract that enhances and extends the effects of certain compounds like caffeine. Naringen can also lower cholesterol.
Lipodrene contains Commiphora mukul, a resin extract from a native Indian tree that has been shown to decrease blood triglycerides (bad cholesterol) and increase levels of HDL (good cholesterol). This extract may also stimulate the thyroid gland.
Another ingredient is Coleus forskohlii, a cellular regulator that can increase the body's ability to burn fat.
5-hydroxytryptophan, a mood-enhancing compound that is used to treat depression, is also an ingredient.
