Making Model Airplane Propellers

  1. Cut Out the Propellers

    • Rinse out a plastic bottle, and let it dry thoroughly. The bottle should have no written material on it. Using craft scissors, cut out the material for the propellers from the plastic. The plastic should be in proportion with the rest of the plane. Be careful, as plastic can have sharp edges. Cut out the shape of the propeller. The resulting shape should be rectangular on three sides. At one end should be a triangle. This will form the area where the propeller can be attached to the plane.

    Paper Clips

    • Carefully straighten out two paper clips so that they form one long metal line. The paper clips should be made of metal. Hook them together so that a T shape is formed. The wires should be tightly attached to each other. Add a drop or two of glue to make sure they are secure. Let them dry over night.

    Attach to the Plane

    • Attach the plastic propellers to the paper clips. This can be done simply by gluing the propellers to the paper clip. It can also be done by taping each propeller to the metal with clear plastic tape. Another method is to punch a hole in the plastic and then pull the paper clips through. Add a drop of glue to secure. Attach the propellers to the body of the plane by wrapping a wire around the end of the paper clip. Wrap the other end of the wire around the area where the propellers will go. Add another piece of tape or glue to fully secure.
