Involves No Major Vehicle Body Work
-
Paintless dent removal is a form of dent removal that requires no painting or major body work to a vehicle's body after a dent is removed. Paintless dent removal is designed to be quick, easy and convenient. In contrast to traditional types of automotive dent repair that involve drilling into a vehicle's body, the use of body filler and repainting, paintless dent removal involves only the use of small tools and suction devices to fix vehicle dents; paintless dent removal involves no major vehicle body reconstruction.
Localized Body Repair
-
The hallmark of paintless dent removal is its focus on repairing just the localized dented area on a vehicle's body rather than replacing or repairing the whole body panel. Normally, paintless dent removal involves attacking a vehicle dent from behind the dented car panel if at all possible. This allows the dented area to be pushed outward to better align with the rest of the surrounding car panel. Lightweight taps, small rubber and metal hammers and various pounding blocks are used to push out the dented body panel from behind. Suction devices, including cups and min plungers, are used to pull the dented surface in alignment with the surrounding body panel.
-
After a car dent is pushed and pulled to better align with the surrounding sheet metal or body panel area, any irregularities left within the repaired surface are gently manipulated with light taps from lightweight rubberized hammers, small body rollers and gentle hand manipulation of the sheet metal or body panel until they are flush with the surrounding body panel. Normally, paintless dent removal can restore a dented surface to new, or near new, condition without the need for the repaired surface to be welded or filled with body filler, sanded down and repainted.
