    Adjustable Shower Head Arms

  1. Adjustable shower head sometimes refers to the placement of the shower head. Before these types of shower heads were invented, there was a permanent place where it came out of the wall. Normally it was placed high in the shower to accommodate a tall person. This left short people and children with water going all around them instead of on them, or they needed to stand off to one side to catch the stream. First came the flex line shower head that allowed you to hold the shower head. This is great for rinsing shampoo out of your hair, but you really don't want to hold the shower head the whole time you are taking a shower. Then came the invention of the shower head arm. The arm and shower head attaches to the water supply pipe coming out of the wall. The arm extends the water supply to the head but with a twist. You can adjust the arm higher or lower and then adjust the head itself to shoot the water straight down to straight across the shower. There are two hinges on the arm. One hinge is right after the water supply line and one right before the head. They have wing nut type holders that will allow you to open the hinge to adjust the position and tighten to hold the position you desire. This type of shower head is a great addition to the family bathroom. Now each person, despite their height can have at the shower at the angle they desire.
  2. Adjustable Shower Head Bars

  3. Similar to that of the arm, the bar allows you to move the shower head to the height you desire. The difference with the bar is the water supply line is hooked to a flexible supply line and then to the shower head. The head is held in place on the bar by a movable holder. The holder is similar to the one the on a permanent placement shower head, except it connects to the bar and can be positioned anywhere along the vertical bar. There is a fastener that allows you to loosen it to move it into position and tighten it in place. This type of bar can come together as a complete package with the shower head, or you can purchase it to work along with a hand held shower head already installed in your shower. They can be very inexpensive to purchase, and make a world of difference in the family bathroom.
  4. Adjustable Streams of Water

  5. Another type of adjustable shower head is the type where you can adjust the stream of water coming from the head. You work it by rotating the front plate of the shower head and placing the stream in a certain place, usually marked by an arrow. The water stream can vary from a pulsating heavy stream to a light rain type stream. They are perfect for couples or families who all prefer a different type of shower. This type of adjustable shower head can also work in conjunction with the adjustable positioning shower heads. They range in price from very inexpensive to deluxe models that can break the budget. But if you are not happy with the stream of water coming out of your shower head now, they can be well worth the price.
