Connecting DSL Modems Through Ethernet Connection

  1. To connect a DSL modem using an Ethernet port, you need a segment of Ethernet cable that corresponds to the type of Ethernet card you have on your computer. Check the device manager on your computer's operating system to determine which type of card you have. Connect one end of the cable to the Ethernet port on the DSL Modem, and the other end to the Ethernet port on your computer.
  2. Connecting DSL Modems Through USB Port

  3. To connect a DSL odem using a USB Port, you need a USB cable. Plug one end of the cable into the USB port on the DSL Modem, and one end to any available USB port on your computer.
  4. Connecting Phone Lines to the DSL Modem

  5. You will need to connect a phone line to your DSL modem which allows you to access the Internet. Be sure to utilize DSL filters on the DSL line and each additional device in your home that is connected to a phone line, such as a telephone, answering machine, and satellite or cable television receiver box. Without the filters, you will encounter static on phone lines and lose Internet connection when someone uses the telephone or another device which is connected to a phone line.
