    Open Unencrypted Networks

  1. A Free WiFi Network can work in several ways, one method is through an open unencrypted network, these networks are often found in large metropolitan areas, coffee shops and other places where users rely on internet use on a regular basis. Simply click on your network connection icon, find the free unencrypted network and allow your computer to connect as you would on any home WiFi network.
  2. Encrypted Free Networks

  3. Hotels offer a great example of free encrypted WiFi, these networks require you to receive a password from the hotel when you check in, this password is then entered when you search for, find and ultimately click on the hotels network as which point you are still connected wirelessly.

  5. Several cities in Florida have already adopted this method which relies on WiFi relay towers from around the city. Simply find a city connection which is unencrypted and click on the icon to connect.
  6. Nationwide System - A Future Possibility

Several entrepreneurs have been attempting to receive airwave spectrum space in the hopes of broadcasting a free nationwide WiFi network, this network would offer somewhere between dial-up and WiFi speeds for free with paid service available nationwide for closer to DSL download and upload rates. This network will connect via an unencrypted method as far as has been determined thus far.

  9. Many times users simply find a WiFi network in their building or from their neighbors and connect via that method. If their network is unencrypted, it's another free method for receiving WiFi
