How Retractable Awnings Work

  1. Manufacture & Assembly

    • During manufacture, sun-resistant awning fabric the length of the awning at its full extension is attached at one selvage end and then wound onto a roller beam that is connected on either end to the motorized arm mechanisms. The arm mechanisms are in turn mounted with bolts to the house or structure on a header rail. The other end of the fabric is attached to the header mount.

    Unfurling

    • To unfurl or extend the awning, depress the wall mount or remote control switch, which will engage the motor and animate the arms to unfurl the awning to its full length or some mid-point extension depth of your choosing.

    Retracting

    • To retract the awning, depress the wall mount switch or remote control button which will engage the motor to roll-up the shade and contract the arms up and in towards the header board where it rests until its next use.
