Removing Warts on the Neck

  1. Duct Tape

    • A study done in 2002 at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington showed that duct tape removed warts more effectively than freezing them. The duct tape should entirely cover the wart and should be changed every day. The wart will begin to get smaller and shrivel up and will eventually disappear in a matter of weeks. Discontinue use if you begin to notice damage to the skin around the wart or if you begin to feel pain.

    Garlic

    • Garlic has a long medicinal history and was recently found to be active against warts in children in an article published in Pediatric Dermatology. To use garlic, cut a clove in half and rub it directly on the wart for several minutes. Cover with a bandage and do it again in the morning. You may need to continue for 2 or 3 weeks to get results from garlic.

    Freezing

    • You can purchase a specially prepared mix of liquid nitrogen from a common drug store that is quite effective at burning off warts. To burn warts off the neck it is necessary to protect the skin around the wart by applying petroleum jelly or some other thick protective layer to the skin. Use the smallest possible amount of the liquid nitrogen on the wart and then cover with a bandaid. The wart should turn white and then fall off in a week or so.

    Physicians

    • If you are unsure if the growth on your neck is a wart, or if you have any doubts or uneasiness about removing warts on your own, consult a physician. The doctor will simply freeze the wart off your neck and give you some ointment to rub into your skin to prevent recurrence.
