    Strip

  1. Buy paint stripper at your local hardware store, and spread it with a paintbrush over the entire surface of the tub. Be sure to open windows, and turn on a fan in the bathroom. Wait at least two hours, then close the drain, rinse the tub and place a strainer over the drain to catch the paint chips.
  2. Scrub

  3. Use a non-abrasive scrubby sponge to tackle any leftover paint on the surface of the tub. Wear gloves and be sure that any large paint chips don't go down the bathtub drain, or you might have plumbing problems! Put the stopper in, or use a straining basket to catch debris.
  4. More Chemicals

  5. Use a product with oxalic acid, such as Barkeeper's Friend or Zud to remove any stubborn paint or stains. Take care not to scrub the porcelain too hard becuase that can scratch the surface.
  6. Heat

  7. If none of the other methods have worked, try using a blow dryer or heat gun on the paint stain and scraping with a paint scraper. Take care not to singe the porcelain or overheat the blow dryer by having it too close to the tub. Hold the heat source about two inches from the tub, and turn it on for no more than 10 to 20 seconds at a time before scraping. Repeat the process until the paint is removed.
