Making Family Reunion Favors

  1. Make Personalized Photo Albums

    • Create a small photo album for family members to take home after the reunion. Begin this project by purchasing 3-by-5 inch or 4-by-6 inch photo albums from your local craft/home store. Then, enlist the help of several family members to procure photographs (actual prints or digital images) that span your family's history from its roots to the present day.

Once you have chosen your photographs, have copies of those images made at your local photograph processing center. Then place copies of each photograph (in chronological order) in the photo albums for each relative to keep.

Then use a computer and printer to create small paper inserts for the photo albums that state, "Place family reunion photos here." Slide an insert into the album page next to where you placed your final photograph. Relatives can then place their own pictures from this year's family reunion into their photo albums. Lastly, use a glitter glue pen to write your family name on the fronts of all photo albums.

Hand out your one-of-a-kind photo albums to each relative at the family reunion.

    Create Framed Family Trees

    • Custom design and build your family tree by using a pre-printed family tree template available from several online sources. (See resources below.) Once you have filled in all of your family's specific information on the computer, use your printer to print copies of the family tree for each relative on heavy resume or stock paper.

Then purchase 8.5-inch by 11-inch frames for each relative. Place a copy of the family tree in each frame. Have your framed family trees sitting up on reunion tables for relatives to take home after the event.

    Design a Family Recipe Booklet

    • Contact family members and relatives two to three weeks before the reunion to obtain those old and cherished family recipes that have been enjoyed at past reunions and get-togethers for years. After acquiring an ample set of recipes, sit down at your computer to type each recipe onto its own page of a word-processing document. Then type a cover page that states, "Family Cookbook" to use as the title page of your recipe booklet. Type your surname in front of the word "Family," such as "Reynold's Family Cookbook" or "White's Family Cookbook."

After typing all of the recipes, print our your recipe document using a printer. Take the printed document to your local copy center and have the booklet duplicated for each relative. Pass out your personalized family cookbooks at the reunion for relatives to enjoy for years to come.
