- An object/drawing is pasted on the first layer in Flash. A motion guide layer is created in the Timeline window. The first frame of the guide layer is selected. The user then draws a path for the object, and right-clicks on the first frame of the object's layer. From the side-out menu, the user selects "Create Motion Tween." A key frame is placed in another frame for the object layer. A frame is inserted in the motion guide (Guide: Layer 1). The last key frame of the object layer is selected. The user drags the object to the path's termination point. The object or drawing will move from one point to the termination point. In order to get the object to move to different points on the time line, the user will create a key frame for each movement desired. To run a demonstration of the animation, the user presses the control key and enter key on the keyboard.
- The path along the Timeline window is not visible when the animation is executed. Users make the path visible by selecting the first frame of the motion guide and copying it from the Edit menu. A new layer is created where the user will paste the data into the first frame. The user clicks on the Edit menu and selects "Paste In Place." The user will manipulate the object so that it adheres to the path along the Timeline window by clicking on the properties window. In the object layer, the user clicks each key frame, and the checkbox next to "Orient to Path."
- The user creates an object that appears to move in a linear fashion by making changes to each frame (tweening). The simplest procedure is to start a new Flash movie, and then click on the R key on the keyboard to select the rectangle drawing tool. The user then draws a rectangle from the far left side of the screen (or wherever the animation starting point will be). The behavior of the object is changed by selecting the arrow pointer tool from the tool window (or by pressing V on the keyboard), double-clicking the object (rectangle), and clicking on "Insert." The user will select "Convert to Symbol" and select "Graphic." The user will assign the object a name, such as rectangle, by typing the name into the text box labeled "Name." The user will click on the frame line marked 25 in the Timeline window. The user inserts a key frame by clicking on "Insert" and "keyframe." The object (rectangle) is dragged from the left side of the screen to the frame line marked 25. With the pointer tool the user clicks somewhere in the middle of the Timeline window. The user clicks on "Insert" and assigns the action "Create Motion Tween" to the object. The movie is then ready to watch.
