    About Suede

  1. A soft, brushed or napped fabric, suede is a type of leather that requires meticulous care. When suede fabric is stained or dirty, it is usually dry-cleaned. However, there are some ways to remove stains from suede without the help of a professional. The label on the piece of clothing will state whether the fabric can be treated with warm, soapy water.
  2. Stain Removal

  3. In many cases, stains are removed from suede by rubbing another piece of suede on the area. For label adhesive removal, this process works well, because the friction created between the two pieces of fabric lifts the adhesive. If this does not remove the stain, white vinegar is an effective treatment for spot-cleaning suede. As with most stain treatments, the fabric is spot-checked in a place that is hidden from sight.
  4. Additional Treatments

  5. Placing aluminum foil over the label and ironing over the area can remove label adhesive from fabric. This softens the glue and allows it to be easily peeled off while it is still hot. This process is used on any fabric stained with label adhesive.
